About Us

Hi, my name is Jane Millar and I started showing not long after getting married to Ross Palmer in June 1972 when my mother-in-law purchased Belview Buck and I campaigned him to his title. The bug had bitten and once we had bought our first house two beagle girls followed: Ch. Nangunyah Puffin, a real show girl, who unfortunately did not breed on, and "Buck's" daughter, Chincoteague Tiny Kim, the dam of my first home bred champion, Semeru Sandpiper. "Sandy" started a tradition of tan and white beagles for which my kennel has been famous.

Six months after the first two girls arrived I was offered Belview Belinda and after considerable pressure from her breeder, she joined us, becoming not just a champion but a very special member of our family. She was the dam of N.Z. Ch. Semeru Sunset, who was sent to Joyce Hodgson (Penavon) and later returned in whelp to Eng. Ch. Dialynne Blueboy. The resulting litter included, Semeru Silhouette (B.I.S. 1st Auckland Beagle Club Championship Show) dam of A.N.Z. Ch. Burnsdale Anything Goes (B.I.S. 2nd National Beagle Club Show) and Semeru Sapphire ("Tess"), who although not a champion was a duel class winner at Beagle Club Championship Shows and also Res. CC and Puppy in Group at the Sydney Royal. "Tess" was the dam of Ch. Semeru Tobin Bronze.

In 1983 I imported from Diana Brown in England, the lovely headed, free moving Ch. Raimex Widgeon ("Henry"), in partnership with Noreen Harris. "Henry" stamped himself on his pups and although he only sired eight litters, his impact on Australian beagles has been considerable, with three other kennels, namely Kinbrace, Casalbeau and Belvaux owing their success to his influence. "Henry's" major progeny include two beagle greats in Ch. Kinbrace Maestro and Ch. Casalbeau Clairvaux.

On a visit to England in 1988, I was lucky to meet Colin and Denise Ashmore, who agreed to part with their lovely (now Ch.) Buttermere Bracelet, the litter sister to Eng. Ch. Buttermere Barleycorn. She arrived in whelp to Eng. Ch. Dialynne Solison. "Bracelet" is behind most of my current winners. She sadly left us earlier in 1999 but her legacy lives on in her descendants.

In 1990, Ross and I split up and I met my now husband, Glenn in 1991. We were married in 1992 and moved to our little piece of paradise at Warialda in northern New South Wales very early in 1993. We live on a grazing property of 2,000 acres and it is beagle heaven. Lots of room to run around and no close neighbours.

While in New Zealand in 1998, I was fortunate to be offered the pre-potent stud dog, A.N.Z Ch. Buckvael Solomon Grundy by Noelene and Geoff Hughes. "Soly" has produced lovely puppies with my girls. Noelene also sent me her beautifully constructed girl, N.Z. Ch. Penavon Hide n Seek. I also brought back the free moving daughter of N.Z. Ch. Nictoney Hoodlum (Imp. UK), Burnsdale English Miss, bred by Ruth Mason. As we already had a "Hoodlum" son, Ch. Nangunyah Renegade, owned in partnership with Sue Bownds and Betty Stopford this should work in well for the future.

In 1995 we added a second string to our bow when Denise and Peter Sandow kindly offered us the Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever girl, Kelmark Interlace (now Ch.). "Lace" moved in and took over our house and our hearts. The tollers mix in well with the beagles.

In 1980 I completed the judges training in hounds and I have judged them extensively since in Australia and New Zealand and have also judged beagles in England.

Although we have no children together, Glenn is the father of five children: Judd, Shannon, Shandy, Corrina and Rachael, while I have four boys: Ben, Matt, Daniel and Luke. Luke, the youngest is responsible for the original design of this web site. I also have 5 lovely grand children Perry, Kealey, Talia, Charlotte and Victoria.  Sadly Victoria was taken from us suddenly at only 5 years. We will miss this wonderful little girl.

We hope you enjoy your visit!!
